Hello, nice to meet you! My name is Yves, the man behind the company. My time as a student with a concentration problem was quite turbulent: apart from the History classes I was taking, the town of Ghent had so much more to offer. Soon caught up in a slipstream of adventures, I learned more about the national Beer culture of Belgium, played music as I travelled the country and discovered how much fun it was to learn newcomers about our amazing history.
When my education ended, I made it my mission to share the secret to living this adventurous lifestyle with others. Because life is too short to not live it as wild as a Beardbarian.
We all have been at a tour where you are beaten to death with dates, too many names to remember and -worst of all- a guide who doesn’t really care who you are. The Beardbarian strives to make every tour feel like you’re on the road with a friend who’s just eager to show you where he lives. Watch out, the weird sense of humour might be contagious!

Starting from a religious settlement, this town became one of the biggest towns north of the Alps. Once contending with the likes of Paris and London, it had a turbulent history of revolts and uprisings. Nowadays Ghent is still seen as a rebellious city where there’s always something fresh brewing in the streets.
Close to the North sea and along an important Roman road, Bruges had everything to become a prosperous trade center. But who would’ve guessed it would take the central stage in European trade? All the wealth of Italy, England and Germany soon flooded through its rivers and streets and would help to build its beauty… before it all came falling down. Walk with the Beardbarian through quiet streets and romantic corners: will the spell of Bruges catch you like it caught rulers, merchants and poets before?

Expérience fantastique: A great tour today in Brugge with a great guy in Yves who clearly knows his stuff. We would recommend him.
Expérience positive: Ik volgde reeds enkele toers met Yves. Hij combineert de geschiedkundige verhalen en legendes met een vleugje humor, waardoor hij op een zeer charismatische manier. Hierdoor blijft het luchtig en aangenaam! Bekende steden zoals Brugge, Gent en Antwerpen had ik reeds meerdere keren bezocht, maar ik moet toegeven dat ik deze steden volledig anders bekijk na een gidstoer van de Beardbarian. Zeker de moeite waard!
Expérience fantastique: Wat een dag! We volgden de Beardbarian op een trektocht vol avontuur en geschiedenis. Samen met de gids (sympathieke kerel) trokken we door onze practhige Stad Brugge. We leerden bij over het ontstaan, de groei, de voornaamste handelsgoederen, belangrijke sleutelpersonen van Brugge. Dit gecombineerd met bezoekjes aan de vele gezellige (en soms verstopte) cafeetjes! Zeker een aanrader voor mensen die meer toerist in eigen land willen zijn. Wij boeken alvast een volgende gidstoer in het mooie Mechelen. Blijf zo verder doen!
Expérience fantastique: We had a very educational and fun guided tour/tasting session in the boon brewery with this guide :-) I booked the tour for my husband but even I (I'm not a big beerdrinker myself) found the tour very interesting. The tasting itself was also a bit different since we got to compare similar but different beers next to eachother instead of just tasting all kind of beers seperatly. The guide explained the difference in the taste of the beers. That made it realy easy for even a noob like me to define what we where tasting and what we had to look for. Lastly I was a great fan of the beerpaté and -cheese we could buy in the cosy brewerycafé where the tasting took place! It was a great eveningactivity for beerfanatics and beerfood-fans alike :-)
Expérience fantastique: U kan zich geen betere gids voorstellen die kennis, kunde en humor verweeft zoals Yves dit doet. Deze jongeman is als kind in een bak encyclopedie’s gevallen en mag daardoor nu zelfs Wikipedia meer openen van de opperdruïde … omdat té slim worden de gezondheid schijnt te schaden. En trust me… Yves wil je dat’m lang meegaat. Dus … Boek Beardbarian en wees gerust dat je een once in a lifetime experience in de plaats krijgt… tot je’m nog eens boekt.
