Fantastische ervaring: Located in the gloriously rebuilt Cloth Hall we actually walked past the tourist information even though we were looking for it! It is crammed full of leaflets and information which proved invaluable for our 5 days cycling around the battlefields. We collected free leaflets and maps (you can buy others) and this was enough for us to be able to plot journeys of exploration for each of our days.

Fantastische ervaring: Nous aimons vraiment beaucoup venir à Ypres et apprécions tout particulièrement la promenade le longs des remparts et aussi le chemin Majoor qui permet de profiter de très beaux points de vue sur les clochers de la ville, de longer l'eau et aussi un agréable petit bois. La grand place est superbe mais nous aimons bien aussi déambuler dans la ville pour admirer la beauté des façades. Et nous repartons toujours avec notre petit ballotin de chocolats !

Fantastische ervaring: La Halle aux Draps historique, la cathédrale, la Grand-Place médiévale. Ypres est porteuse d’une histoire séculaire, mais est surtout connue pour ce qui s’est passé il y a plus d’un siècle. La ville est la capitale officieuse aux Flanders Fields, théâtre de nombreuses batailles de la Première Guerre mondiale. Vous passerez sous les portes de Lille ou de Menen vous comprendrez rapidement pourquoi cette ville est la « Ville de paix » le commémore chaque jour. Ypres c'est aussi , le musée In Flanders Fields Museum que sous le Mémorial de la Porte de Menin. C’est là que résonne chaque soir The Last Post, un hommage aux soldats tombés au combat. Pour ne jamais oublier cette guerre. Il n'y a pas de bonne guerre, ni de mauvaise paix. Mais nos dirigeants l'ont ils compris? The historic Cloth Hall, the cathedral, the medieval Grand Place. Ypres carries centuries-old history, but is best known for what happened more than a century ago. The town is the unofficial capital of the Flanders Fields, scene of many battles of the First World War. You will pass under the gates of Lille or Menen and you will quickly understand why this city is the “City of Peace” commemorates it every day. Ypres is also the In Flanders Fields Museum under the Menin Gate Memorial. This is where The Last Post resonates every evening, a tribute to fallen soldiers. To never forget this war. There is no good war or bad peace. But have our leaders understood this?

Fantastische ervaring: Die Touristeninformation ist in einem schönen alten Gebäude, direkt im Stadtzentrum untergebracht. Hier gibt es auch ein Museum. Die Karte von Ieper gibt es im Shop gratis. Toiletten stehen auch zur Verfügung. Ein Spaziergang über die alte Stadtmauer kann ich nur empfehlen, leider sind die alten Wehranlagen verschlossen.

Fantastische ervaring: Historisch geladen gebouw: middeleeuwse lakenhalle, vernietigd tijdens WO1, heropgebouwd, bevat nu dienst voor toerisme en IFM. Zeer vriendelijk personeel, ik kwam om de wandeling van de Nutteloze Bordjes, maar nog massa's andere informatie aanwezig, deskundig gebracht.

Positieve ervaring: Mooi en netjes ingericht. Heel veel folders. Dat is top. Tot zover... Ik vroeg info over fietstoer rond Ieper. Een oude arrogante niets wetende man achter de balie zei dat hij geen informatie had. We mochten het uitzoeken in de folders. Weinig klant vriendelijk. Een 3☆ is dus nog een ruime score en dat enkel voor de infrastructuur van het bureau. Niet voor het personeel!

Fantastische ervaring: Ieper blijft fascineren. Een zeer behulpzaam team en een goed uitgebouwde shop. Ideaal als start van een bezoek aan de regio, want hier kan je kaarten en boeken over front en oorlog bekomen.
